Earth Day Picnic + Hike

Spend Earth Day with other women at Denali National Park!

Every year for a small window before tourist season begins, Denali National Park opens up the park road to mile 30 (Teklanika Rest Stop) to public vehicles, as long as weather permits. It's a great way to venture a little further into the park on your own and even get a glimpse of Denali on a clear day!

We'll park at the Teklanika Rest Stop, enjoy a picnic (byo lunch) and then head down the road for some light hiking. If you bike, feel free to bring your bike along and venture a little further into the park!

Bullets + Babes

Want to learn to shoot? Or get more comfortable using and operating a firearm? Or have some fun target practicing? Join Emily for Bullets & Babes at Maud Road Shooting Range, April 21st at 10:00am. Firearms education is something dear to my heart and a fun hobby I would love to share with you ladies.

This is a FREE range. I will be bringing a couple .22 rifles to teach with and let people shoot. If you have your own firearm and ammunition that you would like to bring and shoot with please feel free.

*My only request is anyone who would like to join please bring a box of 50 count .22 long rifle shells. You can find them at your local outdoor store, 3 bears, and sportsmans for about $4.00. I will supply some ammunition, hearing and eye protection, but again if you have your own you prefer to use please bring along.

Little about my shooting background. My father (gun safety instructor) taught me from a young age how to responsibly and respectfully handle firearms, I was part of my local 4-H shooting club and hold my permit to carry concealed weapons.

Bodenburg Butte Trail Hike

Come join the Women Who Explore crew and hike the Bodenburg Butte West Trail! The top is a large, rocky surface, with great views of several worthwhile sites, including Matanuska Peak, Lazy Mountain, the Knik Glacier, Pioneer Peak, Twin Peaks, and the rest of the Matanuska Valley. 3 mile round trip hike and about 900 foot gain. Easy to moderate hike.

Microspikes and walking poles are recommend. Trail can be icy at times. It can also be on the windy side on top so pack extra layers to put on if you chill easily.

Directions: From the Old Glenn Highway, turn onto Bodenburg Loop and follow it for ½ mile to Mothershead Ln, where you’ll turn left. Some 400 feet down is trailhead parking. Walk along the road’s shoulder another 300 feet, past a gate; the trail is located between two homes.
